About Stotfold Motor Centre, Stotfold, SG5 4AT
Stotfold Motor Centre (incorporating Saunders Garage) has been in business in excess of thirty years and currently runs a fleet of 100 vehicles. We have gained considerable experience in Recovery Rescue over the years and in recent years Motorway Roadworks Recovery, and have encountered many and varied incidents which can occur on our busy roads ranging from multiple Road Traffic Collisions involving serious injury or fatality to the recovery and removal of abnormal loads.
We are Police Authority approved contractors. We also have garage/workshop facilities, carry out on our premises Class 4 MOTs, workshop repairs and have forecourt fuel sales. Please see below a listing of the facilities available to our customers.
Recovery Equipment; up-to-date equipment & technology:
We believe in investing in the most up-to-date equipment and technology available to the modern day recovery operator. Numbering amongst our recent acquisitions is a Volvo FH13, 5-axle specialist heavy recovery truck valued at some £385,000 and having a gross train weight of 150 tonnes . The state of the art technology includes five hydraulic winches, hydraulic extending overboom crane and the latest damage free underfloor lift. All facilities having full radio remote control.
Roadside Assistance:
Our team of dedicated technicians offer around the clock assistance to any problem relating to your vehicle. All our operators are trained to 'Institute of Vehicle Recovery Operators Standard' and we do our best to get the vehicle running so you can continue on your journey.
Recovery:
As we operate a fleet of 100 vehicles, we can recover any broken down vehicle whatever size or weight. We offer 24 hour a day, 365 days of the year service and are contractors of police, AA, Mondial, Britannia as well as other small business in our local area recovering fleet vehicles.
Workshop / MOT Facilities:
We offer workshop facilities and Class 4 MOTs in our Stotfold garage.
Roadwork Recovery:
We are currently contracted on the M25 to recover broken down vehicles in the free recovery contraflow area. We will carry out roadwork recovery anywhere in the UK. We are the leading operators in this field working with all agencies to ensure our road network remains running.

"I wanted to support a local business so gave Saunders my car to carry out an MOT but had a bad experience throughout the whole process. Communication of important information wasn't given to me from the moment I phoned up to book the car in. My car failed twice on the same thing the parking brake. I told them that something wasn't adding up. I believed them to be making a mistake. So I went straight to another MOT garage and the car passed with no mention of the parking brake!!. I sent Saunders a message through their website to contact me to discuss my disappointment but they never got hold of me."
Trader reply: "Thank you for your feedback as its very important to us. We value your comments as customer service is our priority, and we are sorry that you feel unsatisfied with your experience. Regarding the MOT failure of your vehicle due to parking brake efficiency, we follow the MOT regulations set out by DVSA. Our mechanics do not ‘decide’ if a car passes an MOT, the data is entered into the MOT system and any defects are identified and reported. When testing your vehicle, on both occasions the data showed that the parking brake efficiency was below the required level to pass the MOT, therefore a failure was recorded. We obviously cannot comment on the procedures followed by other establishments you have taken your vehicle to. Whilst, unfortunately, there was a mis-communication regarding the ability to supply your own tyres for fitting, we apologised and offered a free MOT at a convenient time and date to remedy this, which you accepted.
